Fucked Up: "Fuck Alexis Petridis"

Swearily-monickered Canadian prog hardcore band Fucked Up have (fairly) recently utilised the powers of the Internet to hit back at their detractors, or one of them at least.

The Guardian's Alexis Petridis, (probably my favourite broadsheet music journalist, not that he's got a lot of decent competition), writing on The Guardian's website, guardian.co.uk, argued that the current crop of bands with "fuck" in their name (Fuck Buttons, Fucked Up, Holy Fuck) might want to look elsewhere for that striking, startling, shocking band name.

Well, I don't know - the PR folk still find it worth c*****ing, to my never-ending amusement, which might suggest Mr. Petridis' claim that "It's just an everyday word" and "It's not big, it's not clever and it's no longer original" are overstating the point somewhat.

I mean, is it really fucking okay to just say fuck all the time? Does a band name with 'fuck' in it continue to have the same fucking emphasis every fucking time you read it? Who knows? Who the fuck cares? I just like to see bands engaging in constructive criticism with critics

Hey! Maybe next time I'm at a fucking rubbish gig I might climb onstage and try to help Johnny Fuckwit play his fucking keyboard properly, eh?
